The other day, I needed a quick, factual answer to a question. Instead of my usual Google search, I just asked an AI. I got the information I needed in seconds, and I never once had to click on a website. My immediate thought was: "This is going to change everything for blogs."

This is the new reality of "Generative Search." For many businesses that have worked hard to get blog traffic, this feels like a direct threat. If AI gives the answer, why would anyone visit your site? It’s a fair question, but it’s the wrong one.

  • Your Unique Opinion: It can't form a strong, insightful perspective on an industry trend. It can only summarise what others have said.
  • Your Deep-Dive Case Studies: It can't interview a client and write about the nuanced results of a successful project.
  • Your Human Voice: It can't build a genuine, trusting relationship with a reader through personality and a consistent, authentic voice.

How to Write for the New Era

To thrive, your blog needs to provide something an AI cannot. It needs to showcase true authority.

  • Shift from Information to Insight: Don't just answer "what is it?"; answer "what does this mean for you?" and "here's how you should think about it."
  • Tell Your Stories: Frame your advice around real-world examples. The phrase "I had a client once who..." is infinitely more powerful than "It is important to..."
  • Be Opinionated: Have a clear point of view and a unique voice. This is what builds a loyal audience who wants to hear from you, not just get an answer from a machine.
