My Commitment to Your Privacy

Your privacy is taken very seriously. This policy explains in the clearest way possible what information I collect, why I collect it, and how I ensure it is always kept safe and secure. My goal is to be completely transparent and to comply with all relevant data protection regulations, including the GDPR.

If you have any questions about your data, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Data I May Collect

I only ever collect the data I need to run my business and provide my services to you. I will never knowingly share your data with a third party unless legally required to do so.

  • When you make an enquiry: You may provide me with your name, email address, and other details about your project. I use this solely to communicate with you about your enquiry.
  • When you become a client: As part of our service agreement, I will hold the necessary data to carry out our work together. This data is kept secure for the duration of our business relationship and for up to seven years afterwards to comply with legal and tax requirements.
  • When you use this website: Like most modern websites, some technical information may be processed for the site to function correctly. This is explained in more detail below.

Your Data Rights

You have the right to know what data I hold about you. You can request to see this data, or ask for it to be corrected or deleted.

  • How to Make a Request: Please send any requests to my regular contact email address, with the subject line "FAO: Data Protection Officer". I will do my best to respond within 30 days.
  • Verification: To protect your data, I will require proof of your identity before processing most requests.
  • Please Note: I reserve the right to refuse requests if they are excessive or unfounded (for example, multiple repetitive requests in a very short space of time).

Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are tiny text files stored on your computer when you browse websites. They are essential for many website functions and are mostly used for good: to remember your preferences (like a "dark mode" setting), keep items in a shopping cart, or help me understand which pages on my site are most popular. This site uses a few essential cookies to function correctly.

Your Control

You have full control over the cookies on your device. Most browsers allow you to view and delete cookies in your history or settings. This website also includes a cookie management tool that gives you granular control over any non-essential cookies used here. To access this, click "Cookies" at the very foot of any page.

A Note on Third-Party Cookies

Third-party cookies are those set by services other than the website you are on (e.g., for embedded maps, videos, or advertising).

Please be aware: Major web browsers like Google Chrome are in the process of phasing out third-party cookies to enhance user privacy. While I avoid using services that rely on them wherever possible, this is a changing landscape. The best way to manage these is through your browser's privacy settings.

Technical Details

IP Addresses

An IP address is a number that identifies your device on the internet. For some website features to work (like embedded YouTube videos or Google Maps), it's necessary for your IP address to be shared with that service. An IP address is not typically considered personal data as it does not directly identify you.

Emails

If you send me an email, I will naturally have a copy of that email and your email address. I will only ever use this information to communicate with you about your enquiry. I may, if you have requested it or if I believe it's of interest to you, add you to my mailing list. However, you will only receive communications from me, never from a third party.

Newsletter Sign-ups

If you choose to sign up for my newsletter, that is a separate process that requires your explicit consent via a double opt-in system. This means you will have to confirm your subscription, so you can't be signed up by mistake. You can easily unsubscribe at any time using the link in every newsletter.
